Mandate

The pharmacy school of the North-West University – Potchefstroom Campus is driven by our pursuit of knowledge and innovation. Our vision is to maintain our leadership role in South Africa and to be internationally preeminent in pharmaceutical education, research, contact services, and community engagement.

The Potchefstroom Pharmacy Student Association (PPSA-PASV) is an initiative established by the pharmacy students of the School of Pharmacy at the NWU Potchefstroom Campus. The governing body acts on behalf of all the pharmacy students and has their best interests at heart. The PPSA is one of the many Academic Student Associations under the supervision of the University's Academic Council of the Student Representative Council (SRC).

Our vision is to mold and develop today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders in the pharmaceutical industry. Our mission is to create opportunities for each pharmacy student to develop their intellectual, social, and spiritual potential as individuals and as a group. In such a way, our students will become balanced individuals, enabling them to compete with the best pharmacists internationally.

Through well-organized and effective marketing projects coordinated by the PPSA executive committee, the students are exposed to pharmaceutical companies, relevant biotechnology, community service, and further opportunities for personal growth. In every event, the students enthusiastically participate and are excited to establish relationships with pharmaceutical companies and other businesses that might be useful in their futures.

The School of Pharmacy at the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, has been awarded the Golden Arrow Award in 1999 and 2000 and the Diamond Arrow Award in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 by the Professional Management Review (PMR) as the best Pharmacy School in South Africa.
